Biskut Bar
Brief
Biskut Bar is a premium South Asian-heritage biscuit brand built around bold aromatics, cultural heritage, and a thoughtful approach to ingredients and packaging. Sustainability is a real part of that “thoughtful approach”, not an afterthought: Biskut Bar prioritises organic ingredients, and the products are packaged in reusable and recyclable materials. That commitment to doing things responsibly is at the forefront of the brand, and it deserved photography that felt just as intentional.
When we first spoke, the founder shared that while the brand’s packaging and product imagery was strong, something important was missing. There were very few photographs that showed the biscuits themselves in context, in the kind of warm, lived-in moments that make you want to reach for a cup of tea and pull up a chair.
The aim of this shoot was to create lifestyle-led imagery that still felt bold and contemporary, but also inviting. Photography that communicates “approachable luxury”, feels premium without feeling stiff, and helps customers quickly understand what Biskut Bar is really about.
Approach
With this project, I wanted to move past simple product shots and create images that held both sides of the brand: the joy and colour, and the careful attention to ingredients, values and detail.
The lifestyle scenes were styled to feel warm and cosy, like a moment captured mid-gathering. I used brass tones and rich-coloured props to echo the brand palette, layered patterned textiles to bring texture into tea-time scenes, and brought in natural elements like flowers and greenery to keep everything feeling fresh and real.
One of my favourite images from the shoot is a scene featuring the Christmas box on a white tablecloth, with rusks in the middle. It feels contemporary and of-the-moment, with the crisp, editorial energy of flash, but it still reads as authentic and lived in. A small moment that tells a bigger story.
Alongside the lifestyle images, I also built in product photography that felt more dimensional and considered. For some of the e-commerce work, I used flash lighting to create a window-like shadow that frames the product. It is a simple way of adding setting and visual interest, and it draws the viewer’s eye straight into the packaging and the texture of the biscuits.
Underlying all of this was the same goal: to help Biskut Bar show up as the premium, intentional brand it already is, and to create a small set of hero images that can work hard across the website, social media and editorial features.
The founder described the process as easy and time-efficient, with open, quick feedback throughout the day.
Kathleen was incredibly organised and brought so much more than beautiful photos — she really listened to our goals and translated our brand into a cohesive, elevated image library that helps us show up as a more premium, intentional business. She made the whole process feel easy and time‑efficient, and her dedication to getting it right was something special.
Shoots like this are a reminder that brand photography is never just about the product. It is about flavour, lifestyle, and creating the kind of imagery that helps small businesses tell a bigger story.
